Summarizes curriculum changes in BYU's accounting program and identifies transferable innovations for other institutions.
Brigham Young University's (BYU's) Accounting Program received an early Accounting Education Change Commission (AECC) grant to restructure its curriculum. This paper summarizes the changes that were made and identifies elements of the new curriculum that are transferable to other schools. Specifically, the paper consists of five sections: (1) a brief description of BYU's accounting program, (2) an explanation of the motivation for change and faculty involvement, (3) a description of the overall curriculum structure developed, (4) a description of curriculum changes made at BYU, including eight pedagogical innovations that can be transferred in whole or in part to other accounting pros grams, and (5) a summary of the results from the restructured program.
