Nortriptyline-associated autonomic shifts warrant caution in IHD with depression; leaves open paroxetine's relative safety pending randomized data.
Does paroxetine or nortriptyline affect measures of nonlinearity and chaos of heart rate in patients with major depression and ischemic heart disease?
Nortriptyline, but not paroxetine, significantly decreases cardiac vagal function and heart rate variability measures in patients with ischemic heart disease and depression, suggesting paroxetine may have a safer cardiovascular autonomic profile.
