To investigate the enzymatic activities responsible for degrading endothelin-1 in the isolated perfused rat mesenteric arterial bed.
Perfused isolated rat mesenteric arterial beds with recirculated Krebs solution for 30 minutes.
Assessed endothelin-1 activity and degradation kinetics using rat thoracic aorta ring bioassays and high-performance liquid chromatography under various peptidase inhibitor and temperature conditions.

Inclusion of ET-1(16-21), ET-1(17-21), or ET-1(18-21) at 10⁻⁵ M markedly potentiated endothelin-1-induced increases in mesenteric perfusion pressure.
