Does endurance exercise training improve H2O2-mediated vasodilation in porcine collateral-dependent coronary arterioles?
Endurance exercise training restores impaired H2O2-mediated vasodilation in the ischemic heart microvasculature through enhanced potassium channel activation.

Suggests exercise may modulate coronary microvascular responses; leaves open human translation and clinical adoption.
The current study reveals that coronary arterioles distal to stenosis display attenuated dilation responses to H 2 O 2 that are restored with endurance exercise training. Enhanced H 2 O 2 dilation after exercise is dependent on K v and BK Ca channels and at least in part on in colocalization of BK Ca channel and PKA and independent of PKA dimerization. These findings expand our earlier studies which demonstrated that exercise training drives beneficial adaptive responses of reactive oxygen species in the microvasculature of the ischemic heart.
