Why the study?
Does orally administered aspirin in varying doses reduce platelet aggregation and ATP release induced by AA, collagen, and PAF in normal volunteers?
Population
12 normal volunteers (males and females)
Comparison
Orally administered aspirin in increasing doses vs Baseline (prior to aspirin ingestion)

Aspirin incompletely suppresses collagen- and PAF-induced aggregation in volunteers; leaves open additive effects of pathway-specific inhibitors in patients.
Does orally administered aspirin in varying doses reduce platelet aggregation and ATP release induced by AA, collagen, and PAF in normal volunteers?
Aspirin completely inhibits arachidonic acid-induced platelet aggregation but only partially inhibits collagen- and PAF-induced activation, demonstrating differential pathway dependencies.
