Do tailored surgical procedures improve outcomes in patients with aortic regurgitation secondary to aortic root aneurysm or dissection?

Population

24 patients with aortic regurgitation secondary to aortic root aneurysm (n=13) or dissection (n=11), including 4 patients with Marfan syndrome.

Intervention

Variety of surgical procedures tailored to pathological findings, ranging from primary repair of the ascending aorta without prostheses to replacement of the valve and the entire ascending aorta, and transplantation of the right coronary artery to the ascending aortic graft.

Outcome

Immediate and late results

Tailored surgical interventions for aortic regurgitation secondary to aortic root aneurysm or dissection show encouraging immediate and late outcomes.
