The VO2-FTI relation at BDM concentrations ≤ 5 mM was highly linear (median r = 0.98), yielding a positive VO2-axis intercept at zero FTI averaging 23% of control (0.014 ml O2·beat⁻¹·100 g⁻¹).
Intracellular Ca2+ transient amplitude remained unaffected at BDM concentrations ≤ 10 mM despite marked depression of left ventricular developed pressure, confirming preserved excitation-contraction coupling.
