Why the study?
Most studies have focused on either circulating protein levels or mRNA expression alone, whereas paired cross-level analysis of PBMC mRNA and plasma protein may better characterise peripheral blood MMP-2/TIMP-2 dysregulation in in-stent restenosis.
In-stent restenosis is associated with a peripheral blood MMP-2/TIMP-2 imbalance, suggesting these biomarkers reflect matrix remodeling in ISR.

Paired MMP-2/TIMP-2 profiling in ISR; leaves open whether it predicts events or informs therapy in observational data.
