Heparin may be required for ATIII to inhibit cell-bound thrombin; leaves open in vivo relevance and clinical translation.
This in vitro study demonstrates that heparin is required for ATIII to accelerate the inactivation of endothelial cell-bound thrombin, and that protein C activation can still occur when competing with ATIII.
