Theoretical model reveals a three-tier quantum information architecture in living cells, indicating how organisms achieve metabolic optimization via parallel search while minimizing dissipation.
How living systems defy entropic degradation in warm, noisy environments while maintaining self-organization and metabolic optimization remains an open fundamental question in information theory. In this paper, we formulate the core intracellular information processing architecture as a “Primitive Triple-Program Structure”. This model comprises three seamlessly coupled tiers: a Hardware Layer (circuit code) defined by membrane potentials and ion channel configurations; a Quantum Computing Layer (QPU code) composed of cryptochrome radical pairs and 31P nuclear spins in Posner clusters; and a Storage Layer (source code) consisting of genomic DNA and epigenetic modifications. This formulation reveals the physical and informational mechanism enabling biological organisms to achieve metabolic global optimization via parallel search (O(√N)) rather than classical trial-and-error (O(N)), while minimizing Landauer dissipation.
