Surgical removal of a papillary fibroelastoma on the mitral posterior leaflet combined with coronary artery bypass grafting resulted in an uneventful postoperative course with no recurrence at one year.
Case Report (n=1)
Simple surgical resection of a mitral valve papillary fibroelastoma combined with CABG was performed safely and effectively, with no recurrence at 1 year.
May support combined mitral PFE resection with CABG in select cases; leaves open need for larger series on recurrence and outcomes.

Shimamoto et al. (2007) conducted a case report in Papillary fibroelastoma complicated with ischemic heart disease and arteriosclerosis obliterans (n=1). Coronary artery bypass grafting and tumor removal was evaluated on Tumor recurrence and postoperative course. Surgical removal of a papillary fibroelastoma on the mitral posterior leaflet combined with coronary artery bypass grafting resulted in an uneventful postoperative course with no recurrence at one year.
