Does the addition of quinidine to digoxin therapy increase serum digoxin concentration and cause digitalis toxicity?
Quinidine interacts with digoxin to increase serum digoxin concentrations, potentially leading to digitalis toxicity and requiring careful clinical monitoring.
Answers are grounded in this paper and cite their sources.
May warrant digoxin level monitoring with quinidine co-use; leaves open confirmation of interaction magnitude and generalizability.
A case study of an interaction between digoxin and quinidine is presented and its clinical significance is discussed. The serum digoxin concentration increased during quinidine therapy and the patient showed signs of digitalis toxicity. The proposed mechanism, incidence and manifestations of this rise in digoxin serum level are presented. A method of monitoring for this interaction, and its implications for clinical pharmacists, are also given.

Small et al. (1979) conducted a case report in Digoxin-quinidine interaction (n=1). Quinidine therapy during digoxin treatment was evaluated on Serum digoxin concentration and digitalis toxicity. Quinidine therapy during digoxin treatment increased serum digoxin concentrations and caused signs of digitalis toxicity in a patient.
