Supports dopaminergic modulation of sympathetic activation during exercise; leaves open clinical relevance beyond this small healthy cohort.

Does DA2 receptor blockade with domperidone increase sympathetic-adrenal discharge during graded exercise in normal men?
p-value: p=0.002
Endogenous dopamine limits excessive catecholamine release during sympathetic-adrenal stimulation via DA2 receptors.
Mannelli et al. (1988) conducted an RCT in Healthy (n=7). Domperidone (DMP) vs. Placebo was evaluated on plasma norepinephrine (NE) at the end of the exercise (p=0.002). Domperidone administration before exercise caused a greater increase in plasma norepinephrine at the end of exercise (P=0.002) and overall increases in plasma epinephrine and FFA.
