Hypothesis-generating for coronary remodeling in RV hypertrophy; human relevance and clinical implications remain untested.

Flow-overload from right ventricular hypertrophy induces right coronary artery stiffening driven by increased elastin and collagen deposition in a porcine model.
Garcia et al. (2009) studied Right ventricular hypertrophy (n=10). Flow-overload in right ventricular hypertrophy induced by pulmonary artery banding vs. Control right coronary artery vessels was evaluated on Incremental elastic moduli in the circumferential direction (kPa) (p=<0.001). Exposure to 4 weeks of flow-overload in right ventricular hypertrophy significantly increased the circumferential elastic moduli of porcine right coronary arteries (262.7 vs 120.2 kPa; P<0.001).
