The authors describe a preamplifier designed and fabricated specifically to address the requirements of silicon calorimetry for the Superconducting Super Collider (SSC). The topology and its features are discussed in addition to the design methodology employed. Simulated and measured results for noise, power consumption, and speed are presented. Simulated and measured data for radiation damage effects as well as data for post-damage annealing are also presented.< >
