Key result
Adding eplerenone, enalapril, and tempol reduces systolic blood pressure by up to ~80 mm Hg in rats.
Why the study?
The role of enalapril, eplerenone, and tempol in modulating salt-induced hypertension and associated vascular and organ damage in Dahl Salt-Sensitive rats was investigated.

Does treatment with enalapril, eplerenone, and/or tempol reduce systolic blood pressure in Dahl Salt-Sensitive rats with salt-induced hypertension?
Eplerenone, alone or in combination with enalapril and tempol, significantly reduces salt-induced hypertension in Dahl Salt-Sensitive rats by increasing endothelium-derived relaxing factors and inhibiting RAAS components and oxidative stress.
Bayorh et al. (2006) studied Salt-induced hypertension. Enalapril, eplerenone, and tempol vs. No drug treatment (control) was evaluated on Systolic blood pressure. Treatment with eplerenone alone or in combination with enalapril and tempol produced a stepwise reduction in systolic blood pressure reaching -80 mm Hg in Dahl Salt-Sensitive rats.
