ACE inhibitors may confer renal protection beyond BP reduction in diabetic hypertension models; leaves open translation to human disease.
Does perindopril or lacidipine reduce renal injury in a rat model of genetic hypertension and diabetes?
In a rat model of hypertension and diabetes, ACE inhibition with perindopril protected against renal injury (reducing AER and glomerular hypertrophy), whereas calcium channel blockade with lacidipine did not, despite similar blood pressure reductions.
