Thyroid status modulates beta-adrenergic effects on cardiac relaxation via phospholamban stoichiometry in rodents; leaves open relevance to human thyroid cardiomyopathy.
During thyroid-hormone mediated cardiac hypertrophy, the relative amount of phospholamban decreases with respect to Ca2+-ATPase, explaining the diminished beta-adrenergic effect on relaxation rate.
