Alerts clinicians to reversible leukaemic infiltration as rare acute HF cause; extends sparse case evidence for imaging in leukaemia.
Case Report (n=1)
Cardiovascular imaging is essential for diagnosing and managing reversible leukaemic myocardial infiltration presenting as acute heart failure.
Silva et al. (2014) conducted a case report in M5b acute monocytic leukaemia with acute heart failure (n=1). Chemotherapy (cytarabin plus idarubicin) and heart failure therapy was evaluated. A 34-year-old man with acute monocytic leukaemia developed acute heart failure due to leukaemic myocardial infiltration, which completely resolved after chemotherapy and heart failure treatment.
