Background: Obesity has emerged as a global public health crisis, affecting over 2.5 billion adults worldwide in 2022.It is characterized by abnormal adipose tissue growth through fat cell enlargement (hypertrophic obesity), increased fat cell number (hyperplastic obesity), or both.Developing nations face obesity-related health risks, including diabetes and ischemic heart disease, due to energy-dense diets, sedentary lifestyles, healthcare limitations, and financial constraints.Conventional medicine in India struggles to address obesity effectively. In contrast, Unani medicine encompasses several treatments with potential implications for addressing obesity and its consequences. This review explores the Unani system of medicine in combating obesity and its associated health problems.Findings: The Unani system's holistic approach, which emphasizes natural remedies and lifestyle adjustments, offers a compelling alternative for obesity management and prevention.Preliminary evidence suggests that Unani treatments, including herbal formulations and dietary regimens, may effectively mitigate obesity and its associated complications. However, further robust clinical evidence is required to validate these benefits. This review highlights the significance of considering Unani medicine as a viable solution to the growing obesity epidemic, particularly in developing nations like India. Conclusion: The Unani system's emphasis on a balanced, holistic approach to health could be the key to managing and preventing obesity, instilling hope for a healthier future in this critical global health challenge.
